My name is Louise. Call me Louise, Lou, Little One, whatever you like.
I’m a 5ft nothing, who loves to write. I was diagnosed with diabetes in September 2011, and it changed my life. I have also had IBS since February 2011 and I was born with Silver Russell Syndrome. All three are important factors in defining who I am as a person yet neither one rules my life.
I come from a line of people with diabetes. My dad has type 2. His dad was type 1. I also have an aunt who has type 2. Just because I like to be different, doctors diagnosed me as type 1.5. Though I have to admit, I am more typical of a person with type 1 diabetes, rather than type 2. After a year and a half of trying every tablet to manage blood glucose levels, I became a user of insulin via injections.
I began sincerely in 2013. I’d had enough of not knowing anyone else my age, who diabetes. I like to write about the different experiences I have as a result of my diabetes and health in general. Diabetes and IBS are invisible, and they can be very lonely too. I write my experiences, to hopefully reassure others in a similar situation, that they aren’t alone.
I’m a normal person, living a normal life. Hopefully this projects in my blog posts. I like to write about things other than my health, every now and then!
